The 2-year laboratory This involuntary began shaking his head yesterday morning. It happened this morning seems to happen when you wake up, and both times took about 25 minutes. Since starting to go until it becomes discontinuous and the rest of the day. Although it started again today, he grew tired and tested. I am also the vet yesterday, and no blood test and everything, and showed a level of low thyroid, so check following the level of the thyroid. It also showed high activity of the enzyme in the liver, which is the game for me, Dr. Denamarin protect the liver in the meantime. The vet had never seen anything like it. If anyone has seen or heard about these comments please. Thanks (I do not think it fits, it is 100% sensitive and only the head), also not eating anything unusual or have been exposed to any substance, which is kept indoors, and no change in diet, etc.

walk her and keep her as happy and stress free as possible. (If you dont already) Make it a point to give her good attention and exercise in case this is caused by stress. I hope this helps! Hopefully she already stopped doing this. It should fade slowly and gradually with time until she just stops. My lab did do it randomly months and months after but very softly and only for a few seconds. Haven’t seen it happen in months. I hope shes better, Let me know!

rest. I’m not a doctor so I cant tell you what i best, but from my experience with my lab I would just hold him and try to help him relax during the shaking. I also wonder if maybe it was caused by something he ate but I’ll never know. To be safe just monitor what he eats. Quality dog food and water. No treats for a while and NEVER table food. I’ve never fed my lab anything other than high quality dog food and treats. (But maybe he got into something when he had these shakes) I would also…

@mericbama I just saw your response sorry for the delay. I dont think the thyroid levels had anything to do with the shaking. He has stopped doing this completely and to this day I’m not really sure what caused it or what it was. I do believe they were idiopathic head tremors which if you do a google search youll see they are harmless. My lab was the same, he would do this whenever he was falling asleep or was really relaxed which sucked because like you said, it makes it difficult for them to

cont from above . . . When you found out yours had thyroid issues did u have a normal blood work done or did they have to do more tests? Did they give you seizure meds? Is your dog still on them? Sorry for all the questions, we’re just worried about our girl

I have a 1.5 year old lab and I searched for “labs with head shakes” and your video. My lab started doing this last night and it has been getting worse today. We took her to the emergency vet and her blood work and xrays came out normal. We are taking her to her normal vet tomorrow. She can’t rest or relax cause that’s when it starts to happen the most. She also isn’t eating normal. The er vet acted like those two things had nothing in common.

Thanks for your help! He’s better now and hasn’t done it for a while. He had me so worried for a while! Thanks again

It’s called idiopathic head tremors, and there’s nothing that can be done about it. They might outgrow it, but it doesn’t hurt them or anything. No worries!
