Symptoms of pregnancy vary a lot, and it’s made more complicated by the fact that false pregnancies can occur a lot in dogs (some dogs with false pregnancies get larger stomachs, get milk and even go through what looks like normal signs of labour).

In response to one of the other answers, it’s usually only 5-6 weeks after fertilisation (not after the heat) that it is possible to feel the pups and/or detect their heart beats with a stethoscope, and therefore confirm pregnancy without a vet.

And 60 days is not the correct gestation period, it’s more like 63-65 from fertillisation but the problem is knowing when fertilisation occured especially as it can happen days after mating.
