Any known health problems with Westies?

I have a 2 yr. old West Highland terrier. My wife has noticed that 2 times while he’s been sleeping he’ll cry like he’s in pain and wake up from a deep sleep. I know that dogs dream and stuff but this seems different from that. He’ll be sleeping and all of sudden he’ll cry like he’s in pain. Also noticed that he has what seems like moles on his tummy. Is that normal?

Health – Most are fairly healthy. Some are prone to chronic skin problems, Perthe’s disease (hip problems), hernias, liver disease, and jawbone calcification.

If you notice anything strange with your dog, a call to the vet is in order. Whether it be strange skin lesions, change in appetite, change in sleeping patterns, crying out in pain, etc.

He could just be having dreams when he cries out but if you think he may be in pain the it’s always best to ask your vet.

I am not a vet, so i really don’t know. Hope he’s okay!
