Why do dogs hate cats?
<p>A person can reach the limit of his/her patience if the chosen pets are dogs and cats given that these animals cannot live peacefully in one household. Cats and dog have always been depicted in stories as arch enemies. Dogs and cats have been quarreling and chasing each other for ages. Obviously these two animals that hate each other cannot co-exist in one household peacefully.
Dogs actually love cats – man’s best friends love to chase and to torment cats and it seems that cats can’t stand the tough and menacing looks of the dog. A pet parent that has dared to keep a dog and a cat together in one household is to be admired for having a lot of patience. What do you think are the reasons why dogs seem to hate cats so much?
The differences in personalities may be one of the reasons why both animals cannot live in one household peacefully. Dogs are very playful animals. Dogs are social animals as well. Being social animals, a dog would need to mingle not only with its human family but with other animals as well. Cats though apart from being aloof has the tendency to manifest a haughty demeanor.
Dogs are very affectionate animals that would always demand attention from the family as if left alone for quite a while, these animals can develop destructive behavior due to separation anxiety. This is not so with a cat. Being independent creatures, cats would not really mind if the attention of the owner is not received. Cats are not very demanding pets as the owner simply need to provide the cat with its basic needs. Cats are commonly seen contentedly grooming itself on the window sill. Dogs though being very energetic animals would need to be always up and about.
Dogs may not really hate cats as these friendly animals may even entice the cat to play. The play bow which is the dog invitation to play can mean a different thing for the cat. Let’s face it, the appearance and the size of the dog will cause apprehension to the small and fragile cat . So that when the dog approaches to play, the screaming cat will flee.
Cats though really have a reason for hating dogs. Dogs after all are predators. A dog would leap in an instance when an interesting scent or movement is noticed. A cat can be one of the animals that a dog will consider as its prey. Would it then be surprising if dogs and cats hate each other.
